Words of Encouragement

New Mt Zion Baptist Church

During the COVID 19 pandemic people are living in ever changing times and uncertainty. People are bracing themselves for the worst and hoping for the best, trying to look forward to the light at the end of the tunnel. As difficult as this time is, there is no doubt that God is still with us, and that God’s goodness continues to permeate the world.

Just like in the aftermath of 9/11, we are seeing every day ordinary people working together right before our eyes. People going out of their way to extend kindness to neighbors as well as strangers as we face this coronavirus outbreak together.

To the New Mt Zion Family: Be encouraged, be encouraged to walk in humility in your interactions with other believers during this time.  Psalm 31:24 tell us to be of good courage, he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

The Apostle Paul uttered these words in 1 Thessalonians 5:11. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. Jesus told us in Acts 1:8   ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Christians, we have golden opportunity to minister to people who are anxious and afraid-especially those who are seeking something or someone to put their faith in during this frightening time of pandemic. Naturally, backsliders and sinners are turning to Pastors and the Church for reassurance and answers in the face of COVID-19

The Church is in a unique position to comfort panicked people with the hope, the promises, and the love found in God’s word. In 2 Timothy 1:7, it tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of love and a sound mind.

As we all pull together to get through this, look for ways to show kindness to others. Encourage the workers at grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants, banks, etc. They are doing their best to serve people while dealing with their own new normal.

Sincerely in Christ
